Effects of Using the Staged Self-Directed Learning Model at Distance English Learning

This research aimed to investigate the effects of giving learners self-directed learning (SDL) instruction based on Staged Self-Directed Learning Model (SSDLM) during distance English their SDL readiness, achievement, attitudes toward course and education. The study sample consisted one hundred forty-six freshmen enrolled in two different departments at Faculty Education Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Türkiye 2017/2018 Academic Year. All participants took part a twelve-week quasi-experimental with pre-test post-test. program was common both groups, but prepared according principles SSDLM unique experimental group only. data were collected using Readiness Scale, Attitude Courses Distance Achievement Test developed specifically for this course. obtained analyzed through independent samples t-tests bootstrap technique. findings revealed no observable difference readiness scores between groups. It may be because changing way people learn requires longer time. However, remarkable differences some other variables observed favor group. These attitude learning, importance can evaluated as indication developments brink. discussed detail mind and, suggestions made accordingly.
